Play House, the Paris-based DJ and producer dedicated to delivering high-quality copyright-free music to creators worldwide, today announced a new step to safeguard his music against unauthorized use while maintaining free access for content creators.
For years, Play House has shared original tracks and DJ sets to empower creators with copyright-free music for their videos, streams, and projects. However, recent incidents revealed that third parties had stolen and re-uploaded his songs under their own names, registering them in YouTube’s Content ID system without authorization. In some cases, this even resulted in YouTube copyright claims against Play House himself for his own music.
“This was an incredibly frustrating experience,” said Play House. “My goal has always been to make music freely available to the world, but malicious misuse forced me to take protective action.”
To prevent further theft, Play House has now registered his catalog in YouTube’s Content ID system. This change is designed solely to protect his work, not to penalize creators.
Importantly, Play House confirms:
- No copyright strikes will ever be issued for using his music.
- Content ID may generate an automated claim, but creators can simply submit a dispute.
- All valid disputes will be promptly accepted, restoring full monetization to the creator’s video.
“This system ensures I can protect my music from theft while still keeping it freely available for everyone to use,” Play House explained. “Creators can continue to enjoy my tracks without fear of strikes or restrictions.”
